Prestonpans Battlefield is a complex and fascinating landscape, and the lie of the land played an important role in determining the sequence of events which led to the Jacobites’ dramatic and unexpected victory. This presentation will explain what happened and where, using photographs from around the site to help us navigate across the landscape as events unfold.
Dr Arran Johnston is an executive trustee of the Battle of Prestonpans (1745) Heritage Trust, and a leading expert in the study of the battlefield. He is the author of “On Gladsmuir Shall the Battle Be” and manages the Trust’s interpretation and activity programmes.
